I stayed away from RLC for a little while and come back to find about half the number of apartments, and some of the occupants of the remaining apartments missing. What happened?

Did you mean the menu/list of apartments?  They changed the menu a while ago,

If you hover your cursor over the Green Icon on the right of the apartment list, it shows "hide/show apartments with no recent activity"
click on it and the menu expands.
The Grey icon next to the Green one,hover your cursor over it & it shows "hide/show groups of apartments"
click on that icon and the menu expands.

Thanks! What happened to Stepan?  Wasn't/isn't he married to Maya?

Maya got sick of his lazy ass and brought another guy home one night when he wasn't there. It took him a long time to realise that their relationship was done & he wasn't getting custody of the apartment. He eventually moved out a couple of weeks ago.

I saw the night she had the sex marathon with that other guy. But Stepan was around so long after that I thought either he was okay with it or it was a one-off that she decided to forget about.

I feel that he thought that too, but it was clear that their relationship was done.

Maya looks happier and sounds like she enjoys what her guy is giving her.

Does she have a new steady? 

Depends who you ask  I have only seen the one guy but others seem to think they have seen 2-3 different ones.
