BORN-TO-RIDE
Lately the chatbox as become a place to bully ,threaten and discredit members . this is not what it is designed for , it is a place to openly discuss anything that members wish to chat about ,but remember we are a fan site of RLC. Its nice to hear members views on other sites , Are we not adults ,can we not find a common ground for all members to become involved .... so as of today 02/24/16 anybody seen to be either bulling or using the chatbox to intimidate another member will have there posting privalages removed for 1 week for the first offence . then any further breaches from that member after they are reinstated will have there account closed . Also any member found to be deliberately trying to change a topic of conversation for there own personal gain .ie: running commentries on useless actions in a said appartment ,Or constant negativity .We all understand how frustrating RLC can be at times and we dont need members reminding us of it , the exception to this rule is when the commentry is asked for by more than 3 members in chat . What all users of the chat need to remember is that the chat option is only used by 1% of our members . so its a small community that use it and if between you all you cant find peace and harmony again , then i will have to rethink the chatbox option , So can all chatbox users please except that it is a option for all members to use and not a personal battleground . i dont think i need to remind members about the NO disclosure of links to tennants private lives being put on this forum And finally i have opened a forum for members to air there frustrations /anger etc , please use that forum and not the chatbox . tnx to all the members who agree with this and to those that disagree , Well i guess we will be parting company very soon CIAO! toolmaker123
SO, as it is, we have a few that is not following the Code of Conduct that was set forth, (AND approved by Admin, I might add), and yet they are still able to come on to the shout box, do their 'bullying', start a riot and sit back and watch their upheaval in action with no regard for the consequences... as there is no real punishment for the instigation. WE need a stricter shout box format; IE., a way for the Moderators to click an ignore button, as is the case with another popular website, and all derogatory and insulting comments will be removed to the viewing public (save for the Moderators and Admin, for future reviews); I believe this was a suggestion from a Moderator, quite some time ago. ................. Our warning shots just don't seem to have any impact on the abusers. they just keep on keeping on.
toolmaker123
so as of today 02/24/16 anybody seen to be either bulling or using the chatbox to intimidate another member will have there posting privileges removed for 1 week for the first offence . then any further breaches from that member after they are reinstated will have there account closed . NONE of the Moderators have the authority to impede the movements of the accused

ffemt53
While I agree in most part with B.T.R, I think (in my opinion) that you should take it 1 step further with members having "personal" conversations. I don't need to know about your sister's brother in law's toe fungus, or your husbands bad day at work. Take that to yahoo chat or Skype. What I do want to know is that while I watch C&S are arguing again, Leora started to paint.
dougiestyle4u
momo5768, on Feb.26 at 10:33 said AM said in all of our profil, we have warning points!!!why not use this?? for me too!! Agree, use this with respect to the specific person being warned and that a message highlights on their screen when they log in each time (constant reminder to them). Also, perhaps when that individual posts in the shoutbox have his profile username color in RED so other shouters can decide ahead of time if they want to converse with that person. Kinda like shaming them so they can be on their best behavior and decide for themselves if they want to continue bullying (or being assholes) on the shoutbox. Depending on the seriousness of the infractions, there should be 2 or 3 chances before total ban and if that person behaves for a time period (by monitoring their tone and wording of comments) then they are rewarded to earn good behavior reinstatement to eventually gaining back their previous color. toolmaker123
Plank
Years ago I was a Mod on a forum where you could 'silence' a wrong do-er for 6 hours, if they came back and had not changed their ways, there was an option to perma-ban them. Any chance of that sort of system being available to our Mods? toolmaker123
Mooka
I fully agree with what BTR is trying to do. The problem, however, is going to be harder to police. We have a small core of ShoutBox users who assume it is their civic duty to give blow by blow 'interpretation', 'guesses' and wild suppositions based on rumour, innuendo - or worse, third person reporting of what someone heard someone else say some other person said on another site. For the more cynical of the SB users, me included, we tend to take these REVELATIONS with a grain of salt and sometimes can't help ourselves to put up a differing viewpoint. We are then called bullies etc. for basically asking for some semblance of proof. I have imposed a wait and see rule for myself in ShoutBox. If I see someone on there that I know will upset me, I will just lurk and not participate. Do I really need to listen to how one member is only interested in one tenant, and what he thinks she is doing when not in the apartment, what she is doing when in the apartment, and what every person she has ever met is doing? Do I need to read how the girls are really escorts simply because they went out for the night? I know I will make a smart arse comment and be crucified as being a big bad meanie for having an opinion that differs to some, so I shut the hell up. I don't need that kind of agro (I have already been threatened once with physical and cyber harm for daring to ask for proof), I will let these people live out their fantasies and they can feel all important for those few seconds longer. So if you see me online in here but not participating in chat, you can hopefully understand why. delta10, Lamorak, BORN-TO-RIDE and 3 others
Robwin
I must whole heartedly agree with Mooka, i have now learnt to not jump in with both feet and give an alternative opinion to certain members as i know only to well the response i would get and you end up in a downward spiral of abuse which doesn't do anyone any good. Having said that it is very hard sometimes to bite your tongue and restrain yourself especially when the other member is just being, well lets be honest, a downright cunt. One in particular seems to have gone from our screens recently, whether he has been banned or as he was always saying going to go, i don't know but it is nice to not have this particular member around. His partner in crime does seem to have calmed down a bit since which is good as i am sure he is a decent member at heart. We will always get the odd ones around but in the main the members on here are very good and we all have a good chinwag and laugh at times even if most of us are old fossils. Apologies to those who aren't lol. it can be a bit difficult at times to understand some of the non english speaking members but it all adds to the mix and provides a joke often.
